MAY I echo Harry White's observations in the June 13 edition.
During the 1950s, I started work at Bolton Town Hall, a fact that gave me some pride.
Visiting the town centre, I decided to pay my monthly council tax over the counter. It is some time since I last visited Bolton Town Hall. In the '50s, to pass through those large oak doors was like entering a cathedral -- spotlessly clean, the whole place exuding civic pride.
Recently I entered via the West door and, to be frank, it was like walking into a slum. The doors were darkly begrimed, windows hadn't seen a cloth for years, and the once gleaming floors were filthy. I was appalled and made a swift exit.
Surely Cllr Howarth and his colleagues can do something to clean up their own "council house", or do we need another sub-sub-committee to look into the problem?
