A MAN who twice stole vacuum cleaners from a supermarket without paying was sent to prison for 28 days.
Glenn Worthington, aged 25, of Lavender Road, Farnworth, admitted stealing the items, worth £290, as well as a cinema surround sound DVD player worth £200, from Tesco in Rochdale.
He also pleaded guilty to having a pocket knife in his possession without lawful authority.
Rochdale magistrates heard that Worthington had recently spent two spells in prison for shoplifting and had a record of convictions from a variety of courts, including Bury, Leigh and Wigan.
Mrs Anna Morris, prosecuting, said a closed circuit camera operator in the supermarket saw Worthington walk through to the electrical section of the store with a trolley full of goods.
