MARKLAND Hill 'A' and David Loyd (Bolton) look on form going into the last 16 of the Cecil Cup on Sunday (June 16).

Both had convincing first round wins - Markland Hill 'A' not dropping a set as they swept aside their 'C' team 72-38 and David Lloyd having a comfortable 93-70 dismissal of Division One side Hawkshaw 'A'.

Eight out of the 16 first round matches were washed out with clubs with shale courts suffering most.

Week Five in the BSF Mixed Tennis League served up some inspiring tennis with Division One leaders Holcombe Brook 'A' still comfortably at the helm with 10 points and no losses. Hawkshaw 'A ' and Leigh Cricket Club are joint second, both on eight points, and playing extremely well with only a narrow games margin to separate them.

The ladies of Bradshaw 'A' made a major contribution to the closely fought victory over Division Two leaders, Hawkshaw 'B', who remain top with eight points and a healthy games advantage over second placed Walmer 'A'.

The battle for top spot in Division Four is hotting up with three clubs on equal points and only narrow games differences separating them.
