A MOTHER evacuated her home in Berwick Close, in Tyldesley because she feared a burning car would explode.
Firefighters put out the blaze.
She carried her young son to a neighbour's house after she spotted the green Ford Fiesta on fire in a nearby field. Firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Thieves had abandoned the car off Berwick Close, Tyldesley, before setting it alight.
Firefighters from Farnworth put out the fire, which began at about 12.30am today.
