IT'S nearly summer -- which means it's cocktail season, right? So 24:7 set two Bolton bars a challenge: to show us a few of their favourite tipples and to produce a special 24:7 cocktail especially for us! Here's how we went on...

Revolution

KNOWN more for their funky flavoured vodkas, Revolution is about to launch a new cocktail menu. Canadian manager Namaya Reynolds prepared a few samples for us -- and we were only too happy to test them. First we sampled a fresh, summery number called Five Alive, a tasty drink made with banana and mango vodka. We also tasted Starburst, another fruity cocktail containing grapefruit and citrus vodka which had a nice kick. For the more adventurous there was Canadian Love Bite, which was a bright blue minty number. Very refreshing! But when it came to our 24:7 cocktail, Revolution excelled themselves. Taking the name literally, they produced something to keep you up all night. It contained a combination of Red Bull, coffee and Viagra vodka and it tasted, well, really quite good!

Harvey's

THESE guys are no strangers to the business of mixing tasty cocktails -- and their range is certainly very impressive. 24:7 harnessed the skills of expert cocktail-maker Martin (below), who not only creates the tipples but also does the whole Tom Cruise thing to go with it. First we sampled an FBI -- a blend of Kahlua, Bailey's vodka, ice cream and milk -- which was like an alcoholic dessert. Next up was a strawberry daiquiri, made with fresh strawberries, white rum, lime and crushed ice, rather like a particularly pleasant slush puppy. But our 24:7 cocktail was a firm favourite -- a great summer drink containing amaretto, Archers, orange juice and lemonade. The perfect beverage for enjoying on a long weekend -- just like this one.
