ADLINGTON Carnival bosses have unveiled the two celebrities who will maintain a proud tradition and follow a long line of famous names that have graced the hugely popular summer show.

They are Craig Fairbrass, of Prime Suspect and Eastenders fame, and Tricia Penrose of Yorkshire TV's Heartbeat.

Craig played Detective Frank Burton opposite Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect.

And Eastenders' fans will instantly recognise him as bad boy 'Dirty' Dan Sullivan who was a prime suspect in the 'who shot Phil' storyline which held the nation captive for weeks.

Trained at the London School of Speech and Drama before working extensively in repertory theatre, television and film, Craig has appeared in a number of films including For Queen and Country, in which he played Challonor opposite Denzel Washington and Cliffhanger with Sylvester Stallone.

Tricia has been with Heartbeat for eight years and plays Gina, the bubbly barmaid of the Aidensfield Arms, one of the best loved characters in the show.

Her fantastic voice has also earned her a regular place on Night Fever, Channel 5's hit Saturday evening karaoke show.

She was a close second with DJ Romeo, her UK entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Carnival press officer Colin Prescott said: "We are very pleased to have them. We think they are going to do rather well for the carnival and are looking forward to them appearing. Preparations for the carnival are going very well."

Tricia will appear on Saturday, August 10, to crown the royalty and meet the crowds.

Craig will be there the following day when it is hoped he will present the winners of a jubilee chef competition with their prizes.
