MOTORISTS are being warned of motorway closures over the weekend.
From 9pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday the link road from the A580 westbound to the M61 and A666 northbound will be closed. A clearly-signed diversion will be in place via the Kearsley roundabout at junction three. The motorway closures are part of a £1.9 million bridge improvement programme on the M61.
Moss Farm Footbridge, which spans 10 lanes of traffic over the M61/A666 sliproad and A580, is to be replaced with a 220 ton five-section bridge which will be lifted into place by giant cranes.
