RICH Northerners are moving away from Manchester and Liverpool because they prefer to live in fashionable areas not in streets of old terrace houses.
Lord Best, director of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, said there were streets of derelict old properties in the North West despite the booming economy in northern cities.
He said he was in favour of the old houses being pulled down if nobody wanted to live in them and being replaced with acceptable modern homes.
