POLICE have issued security advice for motorists after latest figures revealed car Crime accounts for a fifth of all recorded crime in Bolton.
Drivers should always lock their doors and windows, remove ignition keys and use immobilisers and steering locks.
Motorists should never leave possessions on display and remove radios and CD players where possible.
Secure car parking or private garages should also be used.
The advice follows a new Government crack-down, titled 'Steer Clear of Car Crime.'
PC Steve Openshaw, Crime Reduction Advisor at Bolton Central Police Station, said windows can be security etched and property marked with postcodes using ultra-violent pens.
He added: "We want all vehicle owners to be aware that if they take the time to read the security advice it could seriously improve their chances of protecting their vehicles and other possessions." Contact PC Openshaw on 0161 856 5625 for advice and a free copy of the campaign leaflet.
