DISCUSSIONS on planned changes to care services for older people in Bury have been deferred to allow as many people as possible to attend.

Councillors on the Health, Housing and Social Services Scrutiny and Review Panel decided to arrange a new meeting for next Tuesday at 7pm in Bury Town Hall, to discuss the proposals and their impact on the borough's 10 residential homes for older people.

Scrutiny and Review Panel Chair, Cllr Tony Isherwood, said: "There were some concerns expressed that not everyone was aware of the meeting that we had scheduled for June 10.

"This meant individuals who might have wanted to have their voices heard were not given the opportunity. We are keen to ensure that all those who wish, have a chance to be part of the decision-making process."

The council's executive will consider the plans on Wednesday.
