BATTLE lines are drawn as Bolton Little Theatre prepares for the outbreak of a war . . . of words.

Make Way for Lucia runs from June 15 to 22 in the Forge Theatre, at 7.30pm.

The play by John van Druten is based on the novels of E F Benson.

Quintessentially English and among the funniest novels of the 1920s and 1930s, the Mapp and Lucia books have delighted generations with their wickedly perceptive tales of petty intrigue.

The characters have been brought to life through radio adaptations, audio books and television series.

In readiness for the production the Bolton Little Theatre battle lines have been drawn between Cath Blower as Mapp and June Grice as Lucia.

Andrew Close directs their war for social supremacy.

And those playing the residents of Tilling, dragged into their feuds over an art exhibition, a garden fete and a musical evening, are Gillian Barge, Nina Faulkner, Christine Pierce-Jones, Sandra Simpson, Ernest Dawson, Michael Hope, Stuart O'Hara, Stewart Smith and Michael Tatman.

Tickets are from the Albert Halls Box Office on 334400, the Bolton Little Theatre Box Office on 524469, or by person between 6pm and 8pm.
