HUNDREDS of people enjoyed the fun-filled two days of Blackrod Carnival -- although organisers had to hold some events indoors because of bad weather.
Events at the Vicarage Road playing fields included a seven-a-side, under-nines football tournament, pet show, baby show and a Miss Blackrod dress competition.
The carnival queen, 14-year-old Holly Armstrong, had to be crowned in the community centre instead of out on the playing fields when rain set in on Sunday.
But Holly's smile brought a silver lining to the clouds over the carnival procession as it set out along the streets of Blackrod.
A highlight of the event was an appearance by young actress Jessica Baglow who plays Lucy Snow in ITV's Where the Heart Is series.
Carnival chairman Margaret Barlow said: "I couldn't believe we had such terrible weather.
"There was nothing we could do with the playing field on Sunday because it was a mudbath.
"But we managed to fit as many stalls as possible into the community centre and everyone was very understanding."
