FUNDRAISERS have thanked everyone who supported their sponsored walk in aid of a seriously ill youngster.
A team of five adults and four youngsters took it in turns to complete a 64-mile walk along canal towpaths in Lancashire and Yorkshire to raise cash for Nathan Howarth, aged four. Nathan, from Great Lever, suffers from the rare genetic disorder fanconi anaemia. Organisers of the three-day walk are still collecting the sponsorship money, but are aiming to have raised £2000.
Mount St Joseph's School in Farnworth lent the walkers their minibus free of charge and the fundraisers have also received a £700 boost from the staff and regulars at the Earl of Chester pub in Crewe who wanted to help out after hearing about Nathan's life-threatening illness.
