GREEN fingered pupils have only two days to get their petals perfect in the national "Petunia Frenzy" competition.

More than 400 schools have been taking part in the schools contest and, in Bolton, Barton Grange garden centre has been distributing plants, compost and pots to local children.

The regional judging is at Barton Grange, Wigan Road, Deane, on Saturday at 11am when children from seven schools will show off their plants, which can be taken to the garden centre between 3.30pm and 5.30pm on Friday, and between 9am and 11am on Saturday.

The winner will receive tickets to attend the national finals at the Gardener's World Live show at the NEC, Birmingham, the following week, along with parents and two teachers.

There are also prizes of a micro-scooter, a telescope and a sonic explorer for the winner and runners-up.
