A VICE girl from Leigh was warned three times about her behaviour before finally being arrested in a police crackdown on prostitution.

Denise Charlotte Griffiths, aged 25, was spotted loitering on the corner of Breightmet Street and River Street in April, Bolton magistrates were told.

An officer was taking part in Operation Resident, which was designed to clean up the red light area of the town.

Griffiths, of Glebe Street, Leigh, was seen looking into passing vehicles and was warned to leave the area.

A short time later two other officers taking part in the operation also saw Griffiths on Breightmet Street "dressed provocatively" and leaning into a cars to talk to men.

She was warned again but, when they spotted her once more in the same place half-an-hour later, they arrested her. At the police station she was found to have several condoms in her bag.

Griffiths failed to turn up at court and was convicted of soliciting in her absence. A warrant was issued for her arrest and she will be sentenced at a later date.
