FINANCIAL constraints continue to hamper Sam Allardyce's team building.
Gary Kelly, the Leeds United full-back, is the latest target but a reported £4 million price tag would rule out any chance of the Republic of Ireland defender joining the Reebok ranks.
Only a week ago the manager revealed he could not pursue his interest in Nigerian World Cup star Jay-Jay Okocha because of the player's wage demands.
Kelly, who is playing in Ireland's Group E decider against Saudi Arabia now (we are providing live coverage HERE) is one of the players Wanderers have checked out as they attempt to strengthen their squad.
Allardyce - already linked with Kelly's fellow Leeds defender Michael Duberry - confirmed: "We are very interested in Gary. He's a quality player who has plenty of experience at domestic and international level and would be a tremendous asset but £4 million would be too much for us.
"If I had that kind of money to spend, it would have to be on a striker not a full-back."
