THE only predictable thing about this brilliant World Cup is its unpredictability.

Who would have thought France would have had a chance after losing their first game then getting Thierry Henry sent off early in the second?

But they survived, played well and a 2-0 victory over Denmark - tough though it will be - will see them back as favourites to win the trophy.

Italy looked certain to qualify with a victory and a one-goal lead over Croatia only to be floored by two quick goals which leaves them needing to win their last game to be sure of going through.

Argentina were lying back and not thinking about England but about about winning the World Cup after disposing of Nigeria in their opening game. Suddenly a magnificent day for the English has left them needing to beat the Swedes just to qualify for the next stage.

And who'd have thought Saudi Arabia would have made Africa's top team, the Cameroon, sweat for a 1-0 victory after losing 8-0 to Germany a few days earlier?

This is the most topsy turvy World Cup in memory and for that reason England must be on their guard when play their final game against Nigeria on Wednesday.

Complacency is the biggest danger to England's World Cup hopes now. Just because Nigeria are out of the competition does not mean they are going to be easy. This will be a similar game in terms of styles to the Argentina game. It will be wide open with Nigeria allowing England to play while constantly looking to score goals of their own.

If England think they have already done the job they will pay for it. It looks like a big team is going to fall at the first hurdle, England must not take Nigeria lightly or it could be them.
