A DOG had to be rescued by the fire brigade after falling five metres down an old pit.
The animal became trapped at the old dye mill in Humber Drive, Walmersley, Bury at about 1pm yesterday.
Firefighters used a ladder to free the frightened dog and handed him over to the RSPCA.
