BOLTON Music Service has hit the high notes, according to a Government report.

An OfSTED inspection has found that the service, part of Bolton Council's Education and Culture Department, is a "successful and high quality service, with very good leadership and management."

The inspectors praised the quality of teaching, the activities at the Music Centre, the national reputation of ensembles and the efficiency and effectiveness of the administration at the Music Centre.

The report concluded that the service "is highly regarded and well supported by the schools it serves and is well placed to continue to develop and to make a significant contribution to the education of pupils and to the work of schools in Bolton."

Councillor Linda Thomas, Bolton Council's Executive Member for Education said: "We are extremely proud of our Music Service and would like to thank Jane, Keith and all the staff involved for their contribution to the wonderful inspection report."
