Saturday afternoon saw the 2002 running of

LANCASHIRE Road Club's open 10 mile time trial incorporated their 10 mile championship event.

Craig Battersby's time of 20 minutes 42 seconds was over one minute faster than 2nd placed rider Steve Marsh (21:47) with third man Mike Smith finishing with a time of 22:24.

Marjorie Leigh, won the prestigeous 'Booths Supermarket Grand Prix' vets.

no less than 22 LRC riders in a total field of over 150 riders included nine tandem teams.

This says much for the prestige that the event has attained over the past few years. LRC's other riders were: Martin Kerry 23:16, Frank Kerry 23:37, Peter Walkington 24:43, Colin Greenhalgh 24:46, Francis Mackin 24:50, Ian Ainsworth 25:01, Chris Smith 25:16, Stewart Galloway 25:20, Mike Coope 25:26, Peter Graham 25:34, Ken Howe 26:23, Gareth Williams 26:43, Stan Simister 26:45, Alex Munro 26:51, Stewart Orme 27:22, Andrew Chadwick 27:27, Glen Kenyon 28:03, Len Kerry 28:04, Sean Warren 29:12. In the same race, LRC had entered 2 tandem teams, Mike Bland/Derek Pritchard & Mike/Andrew Smith. After Mike & Andrew had failed to finish due to a puncture, Mike Bland & Derek Pritchard were the fastest tandem with a time of 23:22.

On Sunday morning, one of the clubs few lady racing members, and in the process finished as the 5th fastest lady overall with an excelent time of 1:18:58. LRC club runs will continue throughout the comming months with clubrunners normally meeting outside the Royal Oak pub on Tonge Moor Road at 09:00 on Sunday mornings.

The ride on April 21st will be to the 'Koronet Cafe' in Southport. Anyone wishing to join the run should turn up on the day with a roadbike (and spare inner tube - just in case!) you will be made very welcome
