MORE than 80 archers from as far afield as the Aire Valley in Yorkshire and from across Lancashire gathered to shoot the Overdale's 41st Albion tournament at the Eagley Recreation Ground.
Around noon, the skies darkened and it began to rain, slowly at first, increasing, as the longest distance progressed, into a heavy shower which continued through the the lunch break.
The rain halted just before the middle distance began, allowing the archers to dry out, yet keep their waterproofs on, to keep the wind, which had increased, off them.
The rain returned with various showers which ended as the middle distance ended.
The final distance was shot in clear patches of bright sky and very little wind. Even though the rain made several appearances throughout the day, it didn't put off any of the archers competing for one of the many trophies available for the recurve, compound and longbow archers.
The final end of six arrows was shot in bright sunshine with many but not all of the archers finishing with a flourish.
