BOLTON Advanced Motorists have beaten off rivals from more than 35 regional Institute of Advanced Motorists groups to win the Dunlop Road Safety Award 2002.

This award is presented to the IAM group providing the best road safety partnership in the North West.

Presenting the award, IAM Chief Examiner Bryan Lunn, said: "The Bolton group should be proud that they are the first to demonstrate how effective road safety partnerships can be formed here in the North West."

On receiving the award, Chairman of Bolton Advanced Motorists, Roy Sammons said: "The group, in order to promote road safety, has built up partnerships and relationships over many years with organisations such as the Bolton Evening News, the Bolton Road Safety Unit, GMP Traffic Department and the Police Driving School in Manchester.

"The group is very proud to receive the award as it reflects the hard work and dedication of the group's members, its commitment to young driver training and its long-standing contribution to road safety in Bolton."

The group's next advanced driving course starts with an

introductory evening on May 8, at the Lostock Parish Centre, starting at 7.30pm. For more information contact Les Wardle on 01204 361064.
