A TEENAGER who faces a life saving operation will be able to keep in touch with her friends thanks to a charity.

Laura Clarke has been desperate for a lap top computer to e-mail her friends and keep her busy while she is in hospital being treated for cancer.

The 15-year-old Little Lever High School pupil was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in December, 2000.

Brave Laura underwent a gruelling nine month session of chemotherapy at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital at Pendlebury before being told her illness had gone into remission last August.

However, only two months later Laura and her parents were devastated after being told the illness had returned and spread from her chest to the bone marrow.

Laura, of Goodwood Close, Little Lever, faces a bone marrow transplant next month and will then spend six months in hospital recovering from the operation.

The teenager, who has a tutor at home and has not been to school for more than 12 months, was delighted after the Make A Wish charity treated her to a ride in a limousine, a lap top computer from PC World and KFC spoiled her with a free meal.

Bolton Wanderers fan Laura said: "Going in the limo was great, but I was a bit embarrassed!

Her mother Jackie said: "The lap top will be an enormous help for Laura.

"She is frightened, but having the computer means she will be able to keep in touch with the outside world when she is in semi-isolation at the hospital."
