THE private clinic where Wanderers star Colin Hendry's seriously ill wife had cosmetic surgery is being sued by five former patients, it emerged today.

Mother-of-four Mrs Denise Hendry remains in intensive care at the Royal Preston Hospital in Lancashire after contracting a blood infection.

Colin has been keeping a bedside vigil.

Mrs Hendry, 35, was sent home from the Broughton Park private hospital in Preston last week after having liposuction.

She fell ill last Friday and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where septicaemia was diagnosed.

Broughton Park is facing legal action by Manchester law firm Pannone and Partners on behalf of five women who underwent cosmetic procedures at the clinic.

A sixth woman has already received a payout, with the case being settled without liability being admitted.

John Kitchingman, the law firm's medical lawyer, confirmed that five former patients are suing the private clinic for negligence.

"We have successfully completed one case," he added.

A member of staff at the clinic said: "We are not commenting to the press."

Hendry, 36, lives with his wife and their four young children in Lytham St Annes.

The former Scotland captain currently plays for Bolton Wanderers after enjoying a career spanning almost 20 years.

A spokeswoman for the Royal Preston Hospital said Mrs Hendry's condition was still "very poorly".
