SO Mr Robert Goodman thinks we need to "remove the existing council" at the forthcoming local elections (Bolton Evening News, April 16).
While Mr Goodman rants away to his heart's content, he fails to recognise that things are beginning to change for the better here in Bolton.
The average funding per pupil in Bolton has increased by £550 since 1997. School standards are rising, there are more teachers and eight million pounds has been spent renovating classrooms.
Six million pounds has been brought into Bolton for the Sure Start programme, designed to eradicate childhood poverty. We have community wardens, more police and a zero tolerance approach to dumping old cars.
The Tories starved towns like Bolton of investment for every miserable year they were in power. While the Liberals are windbags who tell a different story to everyone they meet.
Only now are we beginning to see the council get the kind of funding that it needs to address the problems that Mr Goodman highlights. Only a Labour Council working in partnership with a Labour Government can make the difference for Bolton.
