CHORLEY manager Mark Molyneaux has issued a warning to his players - come back to pre-season training one pound overweight and you are out the door!

The new Magpies boss has weighed every player and says they will all be weighed again when they return for pre-season.

"If any of them are one pound heavier then they won't be welcome back," said Molyneaux. "They have to look after themselves, we can only do so much. We don't pay them enough to tell them what to do all the time.

"We don't own them but they need to do the right things when we are not about. It tells you a lot about a player, it tells you whether they want it. If they don't care, we don't want them. I have told the players that training will continue over the summer for those that want it anyway.

"I might have one, maximum two, weeks off and then we will be getting together and going to the gym every week and all the players have been told they are welcome.

"Fitness has been a problem and some of the players say it is the hardest they have trained for two or three years."

Molyneaux is set to ring the changes over the summer as he tries to build a side to challenge for promotion from the UniBond first division.

"Those that are going know they are going and there will be an influx of players over the summer."

Chorley face Eastwood Town at home tomorrow just a week after beating them 2-0 away.

"There were a few loose elbows in that game but the best way to get back at them is not to go in there and kick them but to beat them and damage their chances of the play-offs."
