THE continued dry weather made for a pleasant day's golf at Turton last Saturday although the recent hollow-tining of the greens meant they were very difficult to putt and there were many reports of three-putting most greens.
It looked as if high handicapper Ron Leversedge was going to win his first board competition after a very steady round.
John O'Hara had other ideas, and after reaching the turn in four over par had three birdies on the inward nine including a two birdie finish which was just enough to see him home to take the honours on cards.
David Beighton was one shot back along with Eddie Henthorne, whose aggressive play is finally showing reward in his recent scores, and train driver Andy Miller who quite often is seen playing an afternoon practice round after going to Euston and back in the morning.

The shot of the day might have belonged to Alan Banks, who sank his second shot at the 402-yard 12th hole but Mike Bamping went one better by holing his second shot at the 449-yard last hole.
