SAM Allardyce is stalling on talks with his out-of-contract players until he has booked his summer holidays!

And he will only be heading for the travel agent once Wanderers' Premiership status is guaranteed.

Paul Warhurst, Youri Djorkaeff, Rod Wallace and Kevin Poole are among a handful of players whose deals expire at the end of the season and who have yet to decide on their immediate futures.

But the Reebok boss insists survival must come first.

"I haven't booked my holidays yet and booking my holidays means we're certainly safe and in the Premiership next season," he explained. "As yet that isn't achieved. There are only six points between us and Ipswich and even though they have a very difficult run-in with games against Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool and Middlesbrough, who are in fantastic form, it's not a foregone conclusion."

The odds are stacked heavily against George Burley's Tractor Boys making up the deficit in their remaining four games but Allardyce is insisting his players take nothing for granted.

Speaking on Wanderers' World, the new internet subscription service, the manager cautioned: "At Christmas Ipswich were bottom of the division with something like 11 points, having won just one of their first 14 games. Then they won seven out of eight, which was a remarkable achievement.

"One result could trigger that again.

"That's why everything's on the back burner on contracts because it's a distraction for them and a distraction for me. What we have to do first is secure our position in the Premiership. And if we do that, we'll be negotiating as a Premiership club."

Meanwhile Dean Holdsworth says he will sit down with Allardyce at the end of the season to discuss his future.

Wanderers' record signing and crowd favourite has been repeatedly linked with Luton, where his old Wimbledon boss Joe Kinnear, has taken the Hatters to promotion from Division Three. In turn, he has repeatedly denied any deal has been struck, insisting he wants to stay in the Premiership with Wanderers.

But, although he still has another year to run on his current contract, he feels he may need to discuss his position in the Reebok pecking order.

"My aim this season was to make sure this club stayed in the Premiership and, although I have not played as many games as I would have liked, I have played a part in that," Holdsworth said. "It's been fantastic this season and I hope we can achieve what we set out to achieve. Then I'll sit down with the manager and we'll assess the situation."
