CONISTON Water is under attack from a weed officially described as an "alien species".
New Zealand Pigmyweed is taking over the lake and the local plant life is under threat. The Lake District National Park Authority is warning boat owners and fishermen not to spread it, and burning is the only effective way of killing it.
