A BRAVE father has completed his gruelling annual walk to raise money for good causes.

Carlton Constantine, aged 33, enjoyed the 14-mile circular trek around Rivington Pike with a gang of eight youngsters.

The former warehouse manager is hoping to have raised more than £1,000 for the Ucan youth club in Oxford Grove, where his son Curtis is a regular, and for research into brain tumours.

Curtis and his friends were keen to join the walk, which started at the Kings Arms in Chorley Old Road, and collected money in buckets from passers-by.

Carlton, who is known to his pals as "Connie", has had to overcome a mild stroke, suffers from epilepsy, problems with his heart and eyes and a weak immune system after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in 1998. It was four years to the day since he had come out of a coma after being diagnosed with the tumour.

He said: "I feel shattered, but always enjoy myself."

"The kids have loved it and have been really excited about collecting money.

"Thinking about this day four years ago just spurs me on to keep going and raise as much money as possible for charity."
