ABOUT 50 workers had to be evacuated when a shoe repair machine caught fire at their factory.
Four firefighters wearing breathing kits had to go into the SPH Europe building in Rothwell Street, Daubhill, to fight the flames.
They contained the fire, which started yesterday afternoon, on the first floor, but the rest of the building was full of smoke and had to be ventilated before the workers were allowed back inside.
