MERSEYSIDE Police has admitted its response "was not acceptable" after a pensioner frightened off would-be burglars and was then forced to wait 90 minutes for police to respond to her emergency call.
Grandmother-of-seven Irene Brown, aged 80, suffered bruising after being knocked over as the two men fled empty-handed from her home in St Helens, Merseyside.
