THE TOP two teams in the Premier Division met at George Tomlinson School, with Farnworth Royals edging out Astley Miners 2-1.
Second placed Royals went 1-0 up when Rothwell fired home, but Miners hit back and levelled the score just before half time.
In the second-half sub Paul Tillot hit a tremendous shot from 20 yards out and sealed the points for the Farnworth side.
Spread Eagle are keeping the pressure on at the top after a 3-0 victory over King William. Wes Gallagher hitting a hat-trick for Spread, taking his tally to 24 goals for the season.
Ellesmere and Hulton Lane had to settle for a point each after a 1-1 draw, with Whitley on target for Ellesmere.
Masons Arms produced the shock of the day when they beat Gatehouse 2-0 thanks to goals from Whitam and Holden.
In Division One, Poacher were too strong for GH Maughan, and ran out 5-0 winners thanks to a hat-trick from Paul Fairclough. Other goals coming from Green and Droogan.
Rigby Taylor had an excellent 2-1 victory over Faux Forest. Fitton on target twice for Rigbys, Taylor replied for Faux.
Sharples produced the best result with a 7-2 away victory over Kings Arms, on target for Sharples was Mergurtroyd, Lewis, Hutchinson and two each from Ellison and Wood.
Willows had to thank the goalkeeper for saving a penalty in the game with Great Lever, Willows running out 2-1 winners.
In the Josey A White Trophy, Cattlemarket moved into the next round thanks to a 6-0 away victory against Railway.
