Lancashire Amateur League: HORWICH RMI, of the Lancs Amateur League, pulled off the most impressive win in the 1st XI Cup to seal a place in the quarter finals with a 2-0 away win at Premier Division Bury GSOB.

In a display described by jubilant manager John Sumner as "excellent from start to finish" the Railwaymen sealed the victory with goals in either half, Chris Williams and Neil Horrocks the scorers.

Nathan Ready was named as RMI man of the match and Andy Jackson for Bury.

Bury Amateurs bowed out beaten 1-0 at Spotland Meths, Ambassadors were trounced 8-1 at Burnley GSOB and Sladians went down 2-1 at Chorley Motors.

Ainsworth will be the other local representatives in the last eight following a 2-0 away win at Old Mancunians.

In the Premier Division Bolton County's title aspirations were blown apart in a 2-1 defeat at second placed Prairie United, Gareth Ainsworth getting the goal.

Old Bolts drew 1-1 at home to a young Rochdale St Clements side desperate to climb away from the foot of the table. Dave Haslam scored a second half penalty equaliser after Damien Wrigley had been fouled. Full-back Paul Rouke was named as star man.

Radcliffe Amateurs, already crowned Division One champions, won 4-2 at Roch Valley.

Brett Hannah scored two, Mark Westhead and Steve Tuke grabbed one each and full-back Paul Wilkinson was named man of the match.

Noel Clarkson was Thornleigh's best performer in a 2-0 defeat at Newman College, but Little Lever had a good weekend with hat-tricks from Chris Berrisford and Phil Regan sealing a 6-0 home win over Oldham Hulmeians..
