A SHOPKEEPER is warning Bolton businesses to be on their guard after receiving calls from a conman she fears is trying to trick people out of money.
The store boss, who runs a town centre bridalwear shop, said she has been phoned at least 30 times in the past 12 months by a pest claiming she owes him money.
The caller claims she had previously agreed to make a donation to charity and he is still waiting for her cheque to arrive.
But when she denies having made the agreement and starts asking questions he continually puts the phone down without giving his name.
She said: "He said I had spoken to him a year ago and had agreed to pay for an advert in a diary to raise funds for orphans. But when I asked him for the invoice number he started to get annoyed and hung up on me.
"A lot of people do good work for charities, but I'm worried that this man is trying to trick shopkeepers and businesses into parting with their money. I just want to warn others so they don't get ripped off."
