SCHOOLCHILDREN in Westhoughton talked their way into winning a public speaking competition.
Pupils aged between nine and 11 from Westhoughton CP School, Eatock Primary and St James Primary, Daisy Hill, took part in the Junior Youth Speaking competition which was organised by the town's Rotary Club.
The children from Eatock and St James tackled the difficult subject of drugs while the winners from Westhoughton CP School spoke about their annual trip to France.
Judge Peter Clare said: "They showed a maturity beyond their years. Most adults would have been happy to speak so well."
