Fan's View by Clint Jolley

THERE'S a saying in football 'what goes around comes around' and George Burley and his Tractor Boys learnt the true reality of this on Saturday when they finally got their comeuppance for that May night 23 months ago when they (and referee Barry Knight) robbed us of a place in the play-off finals.

Revenge this time is so sweet having surely consigned the worst team we have seen at the Reebok this season to life in the Nationwide first division. Well at least we put two wheels of their tractor into it.

True, Ipswich were poor but in that first half we were absolutely buzzing.

What a start! No time for any Bolton fan to even start the usual process of nailbiting, panicking or twitching in your seat. This was so un-Bolton Wanderers-like; to do something easy, simple, play football, pass and move, and get the ball into the box early.

We are not used to it but it works.

Fredi Bobic has worked his socks off since he came to the club and he got all his rewards on one day.

International class finishing at its best and the build-up to Youri's six yard screamer was the move of the season, which left us all feeling dizzy at half-time, looking forward to the second half, wondering what to do with ourselves.

Do we wait for Ipswich's customary last minute goal against us? Do we talk to the person next to us? Do we plan next season's away trip to City? (Well done to them). Do we (there's a word I'm looking for that doesn't normally come into Bolton's vocabulary - yes that's it) relax? I think it's the relax word because no matter how I study the table and remaining fixtures and Ipswich's performance on Saturday, there's no way I can see us getting caught by the bottom three.

So what does a Bolton fan do with oneself when there's no worry of relegation or promotion for the first season since we moved to the Reebok?

Well the team's gone off to Scotland for three days golf. Me? I'm off to Marbella for sun, sea, golf and, oh yes, peace of mind.

Man of the Match - Fredi Bobic. If that's what a punch from Big Dunc does for him - get him one every week.
