ELLESMERE Bowls Club have been left fuming at Bolton Parks officials as their home fixtures are put on hold indefinitely.
Vital ground improvements at the Farnworth Veterans League club have been needed since an electrical fault led to their clubhouse burning down some 21 months ago.
Assurances had been given that new railings would be installed and edging boards replaced, while the bowling surface itself also needs urgent attention after being used as a football pitch.
Now, with the new season set to start on April 16, all Ellesmere's home fixtures will have to be postponed until the work is finally carried out.
Match secretary Tommy Sharples said that would leave them with a fixture pile-up towards the end of the season.
"It's just so frustrating. They keep giving us promises they can't keep. I have it in writing that the work would be completed by the end of last month but we are still waiting," he said.
"This has really made a mess of things for us. I don't know where we will fit all the fixtures in. We would move to another green but there's nowhere for us to go."
All clubs will be informed when the work is completed at Ellesmere Park and fixtures can continue as normal.
