THE devastated mother of a man who died after an accident with a bus today spoke about her "precious son."

Thomas Green, aged 38, suffered multiple injuries when he stepped out into the path of bus during a night out.

Mr Green, of Paulhan Street, Great Lever, was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital but died later as a result of his injuries.

Today his mother Mrs Mary Green described him as "the world's most precious son" who looked after her -- and spoiled her on birthdays.

Tearful Mrs Green said: "We have always been together. He was my precious son."

Bachelor Mr Green was involved in the accident on Bishop's Road, Great Lever, at 8.45pm on Friday. One of five brothers, Thomas, who lived with 36-year-old brother George, was a big Bolton Wanderers fan. Mrs Green said her son had booked a week off work, from chemical manufacturing suppliers Tetrosyl in Walmsley, and the two of them were looking forward to some days out.

She said: "I just can't believe he is gone. We are all in shock and are going to miss him."

The bus driver -- 58-year-old Umedai Shamji Alani -- suffered shock and minor cuts after the windscreen shattered in the collision. The six passengers were not hurt.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Bolton Police Traffic Unit on 0161 856 5972.
