AN under-11s cricket club is urgently looking to attract new junior players for the forthcoming start of the season in April.

The Blackrod team practise regularly on a Friday evening with a qualified coach and play league matches on Thursdays against other teams from the Bolton & District Cricket Association.

The rules of the game ensure all players get a chance to bat, bowl and field and are a version of Kwik Cricket.

To play in the team, children must be a member of Blackrod Cricket Club, where for an annual subscription of £5 they can avail themselves of its facilities throughout the year.

If you are interested in finding out more, even if you have never played cricket and still attend Primary School, you can go to any Friday evening practice between 6-00 - 8-00 p.m. at the Club's Vicarage Road Ground. All the protective equipment you need is provided.

When a player is too old for the Under 11s team, they can move up to the other junior teams at Blackrod CC, which are under 13s, 15s and 18s. These teams would also welcome anyone wishing to learn the game or develop their skills.
