SO, we are going to dry a new "tack" to control youth crime (Bolton Evening News, April 3).
Some time ago, our Chief Constable was reported as saying -- "There was no yob culture in Bolton, only indecent people."
At the time, I was fuming.
Now I read that, in 2001, the town's Youth Offending Team dealt with less cases. I can explain that easily -- less crimes being reported due to lack of response from the police, hence less arrests!
So don't bother wasting time and money "analysing" the figures, try asking the Health Authority, who have to employ security guards to protect cars, property, and people (ie staff). Let's get the police to respond when called out.
Everyone who thinks they are being a victim of yobs, phone the police, insist they respond, preferably before the yobs have gone, not hours after the call. Then we can get the correct figures and get these horrors off the streets.
