A COUNCILLOR dropped by the Labour Party has made a final plea to Bolton Council engineers to sort out Farnworth and Kearsley's "dangerous traffic nightmare".
Pauline Spencer, who stands down in May, said families had waited more than 20 years for action but nothing had been done by council engineers.
She is deeply concerned about the growing traffic problems around Longcauseway and Bolton Road, including lack of parking, congestion, rat runs and speeding.
She said: "The area has got terrible traffic problems and it is dangerous. There is a lot of terraced housing and nowhere for people to park on their streets."
She added: "It gets very dicey at times on some roads like Presto Street, which has St Gregory's School."
Cllr Spencer wants traffic calming measures and one-way systems.
Bolton Council Engineer Terry Bullock said: "There was a public meeting and we foun
d there were a lot of varied opinions. Nothing was agreed. We have tried to address these problems, but there is no easy answer."
Councillors and town hall officers will now meet to develop a traffic plan for the area.
