ROADWORKS costing an estimated £750,000 are under way in Farnworth.
The repairs are taking place in Buckley Lane and Glynne Street and the Bolton Council scheme will also improve the lot of cyclists and pedestrians, with new crossings and cycle lanes.
And cash from the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive will pay for improvements to the Albert Road/King Street junction, which will make it easier for buses to get into Farnworth town centre.
All the works, being carried out by Lostock firm A E Yates, are expected to be completed in September.
The council said traffic congestion was inevitable at peak times, but it has managed to cut the length of the improvement works by three months.
