YOUNG-at-heart Ken Eyers, aged 73, has been crowned Bury's most talented performing pensioner in the first round of the national YOURS Silver Stars Talent Contest. Local heats of the competion, now in its 50th year, are being held throughout the country, giving "golden oldies" the chance to compete for a place in an area final.
Singer Ken, a grandfather-of-four, now goes through to the North-west final at the Floral Hall, Southport, on May 29. The winners from each area final will join their fellow silver superstars and perform in front of a 2000-strong audience at the grand final on July 24 at Southport's Apollo Theatre.
