GORDON Strachan - with only one fit regular striker available - reckons he still has enough players available to him to see off the Wanderers' challenge and will refuse to make excuses if Saints are beaten.

The Saints boss said: "We've had one or two injury problems but still have enough senior players available and I already know what my side will be.

"Injuries are part and parcel of the game and you just have to get on with it.

"We will have good players out on the pitch and they know the job they have to do.

"You can talk a lot about tactics and formations but at the end of the day it's down to the players that I select to perform.

"We've had some good results in the last couple of months but the job is far from done as we're only two places and three points ahead of Bolton.

"They will not be an easy team to beat and we've spoken to the players as a group and individually to remind them of the task in hand."

Midfielder Jo Tessem, one of the contenders to partner Latvian ace Marian Pahars - their only fit striker - said: "It's an important game for us as it is a chance to put a bit of breathing space between us and the clubs below."
