RESIDENTIAL and nursing homes in the Wigan borough area have impressed inspectors with their "star" quality.
This year two care homes received two stars, nine received three stars, 21 homes were awarded four stars and one was awarded the top five star award.
Care homes across Wigan borough have been assessed and under the system, one star is the lowest rating, while five stars means an exceptional standard of care and facilities.
