BOLTON Childcare expert Liz Tatman says many local working mums face the same problem as Marie and Karen in the story above.

She comments: "Many women want to go back to work, either full or part-time after having a baby and that is perfectly reasonable. Not everyone gets a buzz out of spending all day at home with a small baby.

"They want the companionship from their job, to earn money, but also want to do the best for their child."

But, she says, women face the problem of affording childcare if they are in the "moderate to low" income bracket, or working part-time. "It can be far too expensive for them. It can be very difficult."
