SO Madame Tussaud's is to break with 118 years of tradition by not commissioning a dummy of Tory leader, Ian Duncan-Smith.

Apparently, the museum has decided to resist committing the Leader of the Opposition to wax for purely "commercial reasons".

In plain English, the public neither knows, or cares who the leader of the Conservative Party is, and certainly wouldn't part with money to see an effigy of him.

After six months leading the Tories, Mr Duncan-Smith is leaving an impression on voters about as distinctive as a sparrow walking across snow.

The Tory Party has truly fallen a long way in recent years. The Tussaud's decision simply epitomises just how much Mr Duncan-Smith is a hopelessly one-dimensional figure without any popular support in the country, leading a party committed to extreme and unworkable policies.

One final irony: although he led the Tories with such a lack of distinction, at least William Hague managed to get in to Madame Tussaud's in the first place.
