FIRE crews were called to PPG Industries on Leigh Road, Hindley Green, just before 9pm last night when a light fitting in the suspended ceiling had exploded.
The factory, which produces glass fibres, was in use at the time and workers had to be evacuated as firefighters spent an hour and a half removing part of the ceiling to tackle the problem.
