FRENCH international Youri Djorkaeff was today given permission by Kaiserslautern president Juergen Friedrich, to complete a transfer to Wanderers.

Djorkaeff said earlier: "I am organising this press conference at 3.30pm (2.30pm GMT) to announce my imminent departure for Bolton.

"I also wish to say goodbye to the club, and if necessary to clear up things about my situation."

He told also www.skysports.com: "I have met Sam Allardyce who came to see me and tell me all about the club and their goals. I would rather go to a club fighting relegation than a mid-table team. Every point will count. I will have a lot of responsibilities and that's what I need right now.

"He told me that the team would play for me and they would more or less give me the keys to the shop. I would play like a No-9-and-a-half alongside a centre-forward.

"West Ham and Aston Villa were also in contact but I had to make a quick decision because time is moving on. Bolton are the most interesting club for me and they were the most interested in me."

Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside told BBC GMR yesterday: "It's an open secret we have been talking to his representatives.

"Maybe there might be some good news towards the end of the week.

"Sam (Allardyce) met him (Djorkaeff) last week and I am sure Sam was quite pleased with his attitude and what he wants to do."
